How do two team stats relate? Every club on any two of 26 team stats, from one frame — so a stat means the same thing on both axes.

2026 seasonregular season, raw totals

Across 30 clubs, being good at runs scored per game weakly goes with being good at BABIP (average on balls in play) (r = 0.39). The Brewers are the best combination of the two.

Each axis is flipped where lower is better, so the top-right corner is always good on both.

How to read it

Dashed lines mark the league median on each axis; the shaded corner is good on both. The dashed diagonal is the least-squares line and r is the correlation across the 30 clubs — thirty points is a small sample, so an r under about 0.35 is within what chance produces. Stats are raw season figures from the MLB Stats API, not adjusted for park or schedule. Not park-adjusted: our own park factors put Coors Field at 1.11 — about 11% more runs than a neutral park. Mixes contact quality with luck and the defenses faced.
