How do two team stats relate? Every club on any two of 26 team stats, from one frame — so a stat means the same thing on both axes.

2026 seasonregular season, raw totals

Across 30 clubs, runs scored per game tells you almost nothing about strikeouts per 9 innings (r = -0.00). The Brewers are the best combination of the two.

Each axis is flipped where lower is better, so the top-right corner is always good on both.

How to read it

Dashed lines mark the league median on each axis; the shaded corner is good on both. The dashed diagonal is the least-squares line and r is the correlation across the 30 clubs — thirty points is a small sample, so an r under about 0.35 is within what chance produces. Stats are raw season figures from the MLB Stats API, not adjusted for park or schedule. Not park-adjusted: our own park factors put Coors Field at 1.11 — about 11% more runs than a neutral park.
